Tv Graphics

The good thing about working with Tv Graphics is that each day is different! You can work in very different spaces and with different people, no day is the same. During my time at NRK the discipline changed and evolved very much. In the early 80s we worked in an analogue medium. Then the computers arrived and changed our working days very much. I learned from the start to work on 16 and 35 mm film, towards the end of my time most things were made digital. I liked to make things in a way that still looked analogue, indeed they are totally digital. I still do in my films! – Actually, I was the very first Norwegian Tv Graphic designer who went on air with computer generated graphics back in 1986. And I must say, I love my Mac. Still do. Back then, you could still develop film and the two media were both used many years ahead. This is not recommended anymore!

Qle sterker is drawn direct on the computer. We still had a Quantel Paintbox, and the frames were grabbed one by one onto digital tape.

The Fisketur-title is made on cell and photographed on a 35 mm stand, very old fashioned!

This was a fun production, due to Alex himself and his nice personality. I still remember him buying pizza for the whole production crew, that counted lots of people working far into the night. The title for this show was photographed in studio, with several extras and props, an old race car among other things. The shots were then cut with graphics and special effects in post production.

This very old title was made in rostrum camera, one clay head with and the same without a wig, and shot on 16mm film. Some graphics from the Paintbox was added for title and so on. We were sponsored with a huge box of confectionery by Freia!

This is a title, that I made as a freelancer on Mac in 2000, using Adobe Photoshop and Aftereffect. The program was about modern women. I made the title with 3 parts, one green for family & friends, one pink for economy and the yellow part for the intellectual part of life. The producer didn’t like the economical part and suggested I take it out. I did not agree, for me this pink part of life is important. I guess we parted kind of unfriendly, I never met him again.

– And here are some logos, that were all made by me for film and tv-programs. Most of them for NRK, from about 1987-2000.
